New to the shop are hydrolats in pretty violette blue bottles from Switzerland. Distillerie L'Essencier is a third generation agricultural business which started in 1953 with raspberry crops.

The distillerie overlooks the Rhône valley, at an altitude of 1,000m, on a moraine, the left over earth and rock from a moving glacier. Ideal conditions for fresh air and glacier water. Crops are certified by BIO Suisse and perfectly adapted to the particular conditions of a mid-mountain farm. New to Snow Flower Chic are 4 organic hydrolats. Edelweiss, Blue Chamomile, Fine Lavender and Fleur d'oranger. Hydrolats, sometimes known as hydrosols are used in every day beauty routines by most European women. In fact, if there was only a few products available to them, a hydrolat, organic of course, would be one of their essentials. Used in the a.m. or p.m., a hydrolat can take the place of tap water, toners or even cleansers for more mature or dry skin types. They rehydrate the skin and deliver vitamins and antioxidants.

Let's zoom in on the Edelweiss hydrolat, a very special one because this Alpine flower doesn't grow everywhere. Edelweiss extract is a powerful natural antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains natural metabolites, or small molecules that protect against ultraviolet radiation of the sun. It can shield the skin against the destructive effects of free radicals preventing cell or tissue damage. Edelweiss hydrosol is ideal for skin problems such as acne, and for weakened or mature skin.
It is used for its soothing, calming and mild anti-infective properties. Thanks to exceptional antioxidants found in Edelweiss, it is also a perfect hydrolat for maintaining good protection of skin collagen and provide a protective barrier to free radicals.

Use your hydrolat in the morning, soak a cotton pad with enough hydrolat and apply to face and neck. Or if you have a spray, one or two sprays on the face and neck. Afterwards, while the skin is still damp, apply your day care immediately. Damp skin acts like a sponge, the pores open and so it is more receptive to the next treatment. Don't hesitate to use your favorite hydrolat in the evening too!

L’Essencier distillery offers its guests the opportunity to see its various crops – and to visit the distillery itself, including a demonstration of how the still works. In the second half of the distillery visit, guests can take part in a workshop in which they make their own well-being products.
